I collect images of sunset -- from my own cameras, from the Web, from the magazines, from friends. I think I have amassed hundreds of sunset pictures, and these are some of my favorites.
I've had my share of long distance driving during the last eleven years. . .and I mean, really long distance; not hundreds, but for thousands of miles each time -- and all by myself. I'm adventurous; I enjoy doing it. It's a form of solitude for me -- just me and my thoughts and nature. I don't do it as often as I used to; primarily, because I no longer share residences in other States, like Washington and Colorado.
One of my favorite moments during these road trips is driving through sunsets. How many times have I pulled over and lingered to take in mesmerizing explosions of red, orange, blue, magenta, indigo, yellow and other hues as the sun sighs its surrender to night. I always have my cameras with me when I travel so I can capture the setting sun in all its splendor.
Not all of the pictures herein are mine; some of them were sent to me by other photographers. One of these days I will try to search through my records to see who originally owned some of these pictures. For now, let me share them with you. Anyway, enjoy the images, as much as I've enjoyed viewing them live.
